Although Prekmurje offers numerous paved cycling paths, it also offers routes that immerse you in nature and occasionally get your heart racing:


1) Cycling along the Left Bank of the Mura. Starting in Srednja Bistrica, you will find your way to the Mura River, crossing via TINEKOV BROD and OTOK LJUBEZNI, passing the lower level of the railway bridge, and turning towards Dokležovje, while adrenaline seekers continue their journey to the BROD NA MURI near Krog and onward to Petanjci.


2) Cycling through the Goričko Nature Park. A guided 5-hour trip through Goričko, starting from Mačkovci.


2) Cycling through Murska Šuma. Starting from Petišovci, the route goes through Benica towards the east, along the "beak of the Slovenian hen".

LOWLAND PART OF PREKMURJE REGION:


Beltinci Castle, Beltinci. Beltinci Castle is a 13th-century castle that has undergone numerous renovations, primarily in the Baroque style. After World War II, it lost one of its four towers, which improved the flow between the castle and the beautiful park surrounding it. The castle also houses the restaurant 'v Grajskem stolpu', offering visitors a unique medieval ambiance.

Church of St. Ladislaus, Beltinci. he church, one of the most beautiful baroque churches in Prekmurje, was built in the 18th century and is dedicated to St. Ladislaw, the 11th-century Hungarian king. It stands out with its rich interior decoration and frescoes, with the side chapel from 1890, featuring the inscription »Ave Maria«, being particularly notable. Beneath the chapel lies the tomb of the feudal Zichy family, which is occasionally opened to visitors.

Memorial for the 100th Anniversary of Prekmurje's Annexation to Slovenia, Beltinci. The triangular bronze sculpture consists of 27 pillars, symbolizing the number of Pomurje municipalities, connected in a unified message, while also symbolically recreating the crowd that gathered in front of the church in Beltinci in 1919, upon the reunification of Prekmurje with its motherland.

Traditional Pannonian House of Prekmurje, Lipa (3 km). In the center of the that village, there is a typical Prekmurje house, known as 'cimprana hiša', built from wood and clay and covered with straw.

Church of the Holy Trinity, Odranci (4 km). The magnificent church building, designed in 1946 by Jože Plečnik's pupil Janez Valentinčič, was constructed in the 1960s. Its final form was completed in 2004 when three bell towers were finished, complementing the architectural design with a strong Eastern influence.

Pump Track Odranci, Odranci (4 km). The longest pump track in Slovenia. It’s a hardened circular track made up of bumps and curves, perfect for riding with your BMX bike (or simply watching the daredevils in action).

Castle Rakičan, Rakičan (6 km). The castle, built in the 16th century and renovated in the Baroque style, is known for its beautiful park and tradition of horse breeding.

Island of Love (Otok ljubezni), Ižakovci (7 km). This popular destination by the Mura River is known for its natural beauty and romantic atmosphere. Located nearby is the fully renovated mill on the Mura, offering visitors insight into the region’s historical heritage. The island and mill are popular spots for relaxation by the river.

LUŠTna domačija, Renkovci (7 km). In this large, modern building, directly connected to the greenhouse, they reveal how the most popular Slovenian tomato, LUŠT, is grown. In the store, you will find small or large, but always juicy and healthy locally grown tomatoes.

Ferry across the river Mura Tinekov brod, Gornja Bistrica (8 km).

Aviation Center Murska Sobota (8 km) is one of the most renowned Slovenian aeroclubs, known for its wide range of activities and high-quality services. It offers the opportunity to book scenic flights with motor or glider planes.

Parish Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Turnišče (8 km). It is a famous pilgrimage church in this part of Slovenia, where up to 15,000 people gather on the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Birth House of Miško Kranjec, Velika Polana (9 km). His homestead offers an exhibition of his literary legacy in the form of paper treasures. A prolific writer, having authored over 50 novels, short stories, and novellas, he is well-known to all Slovenians.

Park Dežela štorkelj, Velika Polana (9 km). The so-called Stork Land Park is located in the center of the village of Velika Polana. The park is home to a variety of native plant and tree species typical of the wetland environment of Prekmurje. The area around Velika Polana is also known for having the highest number of white stork nests in Slovenia.

Pilgrimage site of Marijino drevo (Mother Mary's Tree), Radmožanci (15 km). Mother Mary's Tree is a pilgrimage site located in the middle of a dense forest (called Črni log, also translated as Black Forest) near Radmožanci. It has been famous and popular since 1947, when the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to a poor shepherd on an oak tree. A beautiful hiking and cycling trail leads to the Mother Mary's Tree and the wooden chapel, which runs between the villages of Radmožanci and Banuta.

LENDAVA AND SURROUNDINGS (EASTERN PART OF PREKMURJE):

Jewish Cemetery, Dolga Vas (19 km). The former cemetery, dating back to the 19th century, is now an important cultural monument that testifies to the historical presence of the Jewish community in this area. A walk among the preserved tombstones offers visitors an insight into the cultural heritage of the Jewish population in Prekmurje.

Tower Vinarium, Lendava (21 km). This 53.5-meter-high tower is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Pomurje, offering a stunning panoramic view of the hilly wine-growing surroundings and the Pannonian plain of three countries (Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia).

Zipline Vinarium, Lendava (21 km). The Vinarium Tower also offers an adrenaline zip line of 500 meters, where visitors can descend at speeds of up to 60 km/h and experience a unique view of the Lendava Valley and the surrounding area.

Lendava Castle, Lendava (21 km). A medieval fortress from the 12th century, today a significant cultural monument housing museum collections that showcase the history of the region. The castle offers stunning views of the Lendava valley and is a popular tourist destination.

Synagogue Lendava, Lendava (21 km). This well-preserved building, constructed in the 19th century, represents an important part of the Jewish heritage of Prekmurje. Today, it serves as an exhibition space where artifacts telling the story of the Jewish community in this area are displayed.

Church of the Holy Trinity, Lendava (21 km). On a hill in the middle of vineyards, with a view of the Pannonian Plain and Lendava, stands an old and small but historically significant church. As a special feature, the church houses the naturally mummified body of a local hero, Mihael Hadik, in a glass crypt. The visit is possible only by prior telephone arrangement.

Chapel of St. Nicholas, Selo (20 km). This small, round church from the 12th century, also known as 'Rotunda', is characterized by its distinctive round architecture. During its construction, it served as an important stop for medieval crusaders on their way to the Holy Land during the Crusades. The entrance to the rotunda is symbolically marked by a fresco depicting Christ's entry into Jerusalem, offering visitors a unique experience. It offers a pleasant environment for walks along the marked Bernarda trail and for observing nature, which will particularly charm bird lovers and amphibian enthusiasts.

Pizzera Cimešter - Okusi Goričkega, Kovačevci (28 km)

Grad Castle, Grad (31 km). This medieval castle with a rich history is located in the Prekmurje municipality of Grad. Built in the 12th century, it has been renovated and restored several times over the centuries. With 365 rooms, it hides numerous legends and castle secrets. Today, it is open to visitors as a museum, offering insight into the historical and cultural aspects of this remarkable building and the surrounding region.

Adventure Park VULKANIJA, Grad (31 km). To interactive theme park is dedicated to volcanoes and geological phenomena. It offers visitors a unique experience through numerous educational and entertaining features, such as a volcanic eruption model, geological paths, natural disaster simulations, and a variety of interactive activities that allow for exploring the mysteries of the Earth. The park is suitable for all ages and provides an opportunity for visitors to learn about nature in a fun and dynamic way.

Balloon Landing Memorial, Ženavlje (32 km). This spherical monument marks the location where, in 1934, a stratospheric balloon carrying two Belgian scientists made an unexpected landing. The event so captivated the residents of the Gornji Petrovci municipality that they declared August 18, the day the balloon landed, as their municipal holiday.

Ex-Border Guard Tower, Krplivnik (34 km). This beautifully preserved brick watchtower, built in 1945, stands on the border with Hungary and bears witness to the historical significance of the area.

Mineral Spring Slatinski vrelec Nuskova, Nuskova (37 km). According to the Faculty of Chemistry in Ljubljana, this is the source of the best mineral water in Slovenia. Near the spring, a resting place for hikers and cyclists has been arranged, sheltered by a thatched roof.

Tri-border Point Tromejnik SLO - A - H (38 km). The 'Tromejnik' nature trail, starting from a parking area near the village of Trdkova, is 2,600 meters long and features 13 interesting educational points, including: tree growth analysis, wood in Goričko, organ of fragrances, birds of Goričko, the tripoint, forest renewal, food chains, forest and water, Earth's skin, meadows, marsh meadows, hunting structures, weather station, and pond – marsh.

Sotinski vrh - Kugla, Sotina (41 km). The highest peak of Prekmurje (501 m above sea level), located just a few steps from the Austrian border.


WEST BANK OF THE RIVER MURA (GORNJA RADGONA AND SURROUNDINGS):

Mill on the river Mura Babičev mlin, Veržej (10 km). It is the only preserved and operational mill on the south bank of the Mura River. It stands out for its external wooden waterwheel, mounted on two boats.

Gornja Radgona - Old Town Center (30 km). The historical center of Gornja Radgona is limited to just a few streets between the Mura River and the castle hill. After most of the town of Radgona became part of Austria following World War I, Gornja Radgona emerged as a predominantly newly developed town.

Prehistoric Settlement Gradišče, Šafarsko (13 km)

Ljutomer - Old Town Center (20 km). The historic center of Ljutomer, the capital of Prlekija, is full of well-preserved buildings and monuments. It is also important as the site of the first Slovenian national gathering in 1868.
